| BOBS BIRTHDAY SUPRISE; Berwick and Borders Military Vehicle Club
where out in force at Waspys Crank-Up on Sunday 26th April in brilliant sunshine,vehicles arrived from Northumberland,Berwickshire,Durham
and Scotland.Co-founder of the Lowick Home Guard Unit Bobby Appleby was completely supprised to be presented with a specialy
commisioned portrait by Newcastle artist Jack Emmet of a Bedford RL the type which Bob drove whilst in Cyprus with the RAF.this
was to honour his long service with the club and his 60th birthday(today-thursday)Present at the handover where Denny Thomson
NEMVC/Dave(Rommel)Walker/Malcolm Bogaert(Chairman)Bob Appleby,Ian Dods and Ron Murdoch SMVG. 3/ unusual vehicles
turned up this year a 1942 German Kubelwagen./a Civil Defence Austin Gipsy and a vehicle well known to the residents of Tweedmouth...the
newly painted Alvis Saracen which had moved from its usual parking place on Harrow Bank!....The club would once again like
to thank the Robson Family and the Rotary Club for hosting such a wonderful day. |
